Today was our first pick-up from Second Harvest. We picked up 1,064 pounds of fresh vegetables and fruit, bread and bakery items and packaged fruit and other essentials and delivered them all over town. The Hastings Library was the main distribution point and they did a fabulous job of getting the word and the food out. After delivering it around 2:30, the cupboards were bare by 4:30. Only a few bananas remained at the end of the day. The cost of the food distributed? $2,234.40 if we had to buy it at the store. The cost to deliver to families who could really use it… not a penny. Thank you Hastings Library staff for a job well done!
