Pie in the Sky has joined hands with Second Harvest to help deliver much needed food to families in our area. In December we distributed more than 12,000 pounds of food. Let me say that again.. more than 12,000 pounds of food that would have gone to waste. Along with a group of hearty volunteers and their trucks, we sorted, loaded and unloaded all of this food. No fork lifts, no cargo vans, no moving teams, just a bunch of ordinary folks with bad backs and sore knees, pick-up trucks and SUV’s. And the food went out. It is a remarkable feat and being able to share the gift of giving with so many others is just the icing on the cake. One volunteer, who took food to a retirement community was so moved by the experience that he said he would deliver every week. This is what Pie in the Sky is all about.
